TENDANCE LIEGE
Le liège fait son grand retour et inspire...on le réinvente, on crée des objets contemporains et écolos.
Petit miracle de la nature, le liège possède un nombre incroyable de qualités. On s'en sert depuis longtemps pour son élasticité et sa flottabilité hors pair ou ses propriétés d'isolation acoustique et thermique. Grâce à son enveloppe protectrice, le chêne-liège est l'un des seuls arbres capables de résister aux feux de forêt, il se régénère et vit de 150 à 250 ans. Ressource éminemment renouvelable, il ne génère presque pas de déchets lors de son exploitation. Mieux, il constitue un remarquable puits de carbone, contribuant ainsi à réduire la quantité de CO2 atmosphérique, et l'utilisation que nous en faisons n'entrave pas ses vertus écologiques.
Ces forêts de chêne-liège sont un trésor national au Portugal qui fournit, à lui seul, la moitié du liège servant à boucher sept bouteilles sur dix dans le monde.
Mais pas que !!
Aujourd'hui, le Design s'en ai emparé afin de le réinventer, diversifier dans d'autres secteurs comme les objets, le mobilier et la décoration...
Voici ma sélection de talentueux Designers Portugais qui ont su redonner au liège son côté "tendance"
SUGO CORK RUGS est né du rêve de la Designer Susana Godinho de concevoir des tapis avec du liège en utilisant les techniques traditionnelles de tissage.Sa préoccupation par rapport à l'environnement et l'usage de matériaux écologiques et recyclables, furent les motivations de départ à la création d'un tapis inspiré de la Nature, fallait-il encore que le design soit contemporain et tendance donnant une ambiance particulière à une pièce...Eco design et fonctionnel, rêve réalisé et résultat obtenu avec des couleurs et matières s'harmonisant à différents styles d'intérieur.Un joli coup de coeur.
Studio TSC, Tiago Sà da Costa qui a débuté sa carrière à Lisbonne, où il a étudié à L'université Lisbon Fine Arts, le Design de produits, lui aussi s'est intéressé au design Ecologique, et quoi de plus éco que le liège. Tiago à explorer toutes les fonctionnalités de ce matériau, ses utilisations possibles, ses limites...en le combinant avec d'autres matériaux comme le métal...il est expert en la matière...son travail a été exposé de New York à Berlin en passant par Milan et d'autres encore.Ses réalisations sont esthétiques et redonnent le côté "chic" à cette matière brute.

Cork is back and inspires ... reinvented, it creates contemporary and eco-friendly projects.
A miracle of nature, cork has an incredible number of qualities. It is used for a long time for its elasticity and buoyancy outstanding or acoustic and thermal insolation properties. Thanks to its protective envelope, the cork oak is one of the only trees able to withstand forest fires, it regenerates and lives 150 to 250 years. Renewable resource, it almost does not generate waste during its operation. Better, it is a remarkable carbon sink, helping to reduce the amount of atmospheric CO2, and the use that we make does not hinder its ecological virtues.
These cork oak forests are a national treasure in Portugal that alone provides half of the cork used to butcher seven out of ten bottles in the world.
But not only !!
Today, Design has seized it to reinvent it, to diversify into other sectors such as objects, furniture and interior design.
Here is my selection of some talented Portuguese Designers who have successfully restored Portuguese cork his "trendy"side.
SUGO CORK RUGS came from the dream of designer Susana Godinho to design carpets with cork using traditional weaving techniques.
His concern about the environment and the use of ecological and sustainable materials, were the initial motivation to create a rug inspired by nature. It had to be the challenge was realizing design and trendy rugs giving a special atmosphere to a room ...
Eco design and functional rugs...A dream realized and result with colors and materials harmonizing perfectly to different styles of interior.

Studio TSC Tiago started his design career in Lisbon, where he studies Product Design at the Lisbon Fine Arts University (FBAUL).
He is also interested in Ecological design, and what's more eco-friendly than cork. Tiago explored all the functionalities of this material, its possible uses, its limits ... by combining it with other materials like steel ... he is expert in the material.
